Recently Queens Beans was on-site in Hunters Point South and took time to photograph and video the progress at the Related Companies newest project coming to Long Island City. Recently Multi-Housing News reported that AFL-CIO invested $8.3 million into building “A” of the project, which consist of 619 units spanning 37 stories (also known as Hunter’s Point South Commons). The whole project will consist of 925 units all of which will be set aside as affordable housing for low to middle income families. The towers known as Hunter’s Point South Crossing and Hunter’s Point South Commons are located at 1-55 Borden Avenue and 1-50 50th Avenue. Amenities to be available can be previewed on the website that also states the lottery is now closed. The Daily News reported that over 92,000 applicants are looking be the lucky winners of the lottery for the 925 units opening in spring of this year.
Five more buildings are due to follow to bring a total of 5,000 affordable units to the city. Queens Beans brings the updates of the current progress, see photos and video below.
