Mixed-use dance studio coming to Astoria by 2020

Astoria continues its long string of new real estate projects. Recently, the newest addition was announced: a new development that will contain seven stories and a dance studio. Nowadays, the building is the home of the Callina’s Dance School, addressed at 35-10 Astoria Blvd. The company planning to redevelop the site is Astoria Boulevard LLC. They want to update the location by constructing a site that will span 52,720 square feet, featuring a 2,800 square feet studio.

Besides the studio, the tower will include 36 units, with 20% of them designated as affordable housing. The architects in charge of the project are ARC Architecture + Design studio, and they have stated 13 units will be condos. Besides the studio, the building will include indoor and outdoor amenities for residents, such as a recreation space, a roof deck and several parking spots.

In order for this project to come to fruition, the area needs to be rezoned because the new project will be “mixed-use”. If everything goes according to plan and the corresponding permits are approved, the project will be completed by 2020. [QNS]
