P.S. 81 files permits to build a gymnasium
The Public School 81 Jean Paul Richter will be adding a gymnasium to its domains if everything goes according to plan. Permits have already been filed in order to build a one-story structure, addressed at 1716 Bleecker Street. The school and its future gym are and will be located in Ridgewood, Queens.
The school is in a very interesting location. It is right in the border of Brooklyn and it overlooks the Bushwick neighborhood, just a third of a mile away from the Seneca Avenue subway station (which is served by the M train).
The gymnasium will be 22 feet tall and will span 5,750 square feet. This means that the school’s overall footprint will be raised to 72,750 sf. Besides the gym per se, office space and storage area will also be added.
The developer, in this opportunity, is the New York City School Construction Authority. The design will be decided by MD Szerbaty & Associates Architect. Completion date has not been announced yet. [NY Yimby]
