Second phase of TF Cornerstone’s Hunters Point project has been put in motion
According to recent reports, new permits have been filed with the city for a residential tower that will have 56 stories. The developer is TF Cornerstone and the construction site is near the Hunter’s Point South Park waterfront in Long Island City. The plans filed with the Department of Buildings stipulate that said tower will feature 800 units and encompass 774,624 square feet. It will be addressed at 52-03 Center Boulevard. Furthermore, a little over of 8,000 square feet will be destined to commercial space. If everything goes according to plan, the tower would be 587 feet tall.
Besides the apartments and retail spaces, the tower will feature several amenities. For example, developers are looking into including a dog grooming room, valet parking, a resident’s lounge, a gym and a terrace. The retail spaces will be two and will be located at the ground floor.
This tower is actually the second TF Cornerstone is building in Hunters Point. The project was awarded to the company back in 2013 by the Department of Housing Preservation. Once the two-tower project is completed, it will add 1,193 apartments to the area. 796 of those units will be affordable, while 100 apartments will be destined to low-income seniors.
Even though the project seemed like a great addition to the city, it was delayed because of a series of disagreement between state and federal agencies. There is a rail tunnel inside the site and specific permits and approval were needed in order to move forward with the project. Nevertheless, those issues seem to have been resolved and SLCE Architects has been named as the firm in charge of designing the tower. [Rew Online]
