Barone Management changes plans for LIC site
From a hotel to an office building
After much internal debate, Barone Management has decided against a hotel project the company had in Long Island City. In the beginning, the firm wanted to build a 199-key Dream Hotel based at 9-03 44th Road, but it will not happen.
In its place, the company will develop an office building there. Once it is completed, that space will span 85,000 square feet. Barone already filed plans with the city’s Department of Buildings, which makes this a pretty decided deal.
According to the documents filed, the office space will have three stories and be 51 feet tall. However, this makes the office space much shorter than the original hotel, which was going to be over 135 feet tall and would have eleven stories. Nowadays, the site is vacant. Barone could not be reached for comment.
Nevertheless this change of plans, Barone still has hotels in other places in the city: there is a 175-key Pastana Hotel based at 338 West 39th Street and a 100-key hotel at 456 Greenwich Street. [The Real Deal]
