43-25 Hunter Street – A Rockrose Development
Now that the permits have been filed and excavation is under way, Queens Beans brings you the latest on the newest Court Square development from Rockrose. Over the summer Rockrose filed permits with the city to get approval on its latest project at 43-25 Hunter St. The building is expected to be a mixed use building with about 19,000 square feet of retail space and over 750,000 square feet of residential space. The 50-story building is in the heart of Court Square and across the current Rockrose rental tower The Linc LIC, which is now fully occupied.
Crews are working hard and excavating as can be seen from the attached photos. Rockrose has also filed permits this summer for another 54-story tower at 43-22 Queens Street. According to the Rockrose website the building will stand “… 580 feet tall, making it the second-tallest residential building in Queens. The scope will total 623,337 square feet, including 34,477 square feet of ground-floor retail; the remainder will be split between 783 apartments.”
Recently the word among all Long island City developers, real estate professionals and local residents has been the great need for retail in Long Island City. Now that the density is increasing, developers are seeing and meeting the greater demand for retail and look to capitalize on an emerging retail force in Western Queens. Many expect the retail push to be one to happen naturally and organically, but developers are definitely laying the ground work for that to happen.
Stay tuned as Queen Beans brings you all the updates on the Rockrose and all of their Court Square projects.
