37-11 23rd Street, Long Island City – Hotel Rendering Up
QueensBeans was in the heavy industrial corridor of 23rd St Between 38th and 37th Avenues this week and noticed a new rendering up for Gurpal Cheema’s new hotel.
The building’s plans call for an 11-story, 34,368 square foot hotel, totaling 93 rooms. This will be adjacent to Mr. Cheema’s other project at 37-10 24th Street, for a 45,898 square foot, 13-story hotel with 122 rooms. Mr. Cheema, under the LLC, New Generation Development, owns the land that spans block through from 23rd to 24th Street and both hotels will be back to back. Mr. Cheema told QueensBeans a few months ago that a Comfort Inn or a Choice hotel brand will be one of the hotels. 24th Street is to be 188 feet tall and 23 will stop at 136 feet.
Manish Savani of M.S. SAVANI ARCHITECT, PC is the architect on record for both projects. The area is still booming with new hotels and with no end in sight as of yet for Long Island City’s hotel rush more will continue to be built. According to the LIC partnership’s New Development Map, the area of Dutch Kills and Ravenswood have many already existing hotels and more hotels planned to be built in the pipeline.
QueensBeans will continue to update all progress.
