28-34 Jackson Avenue – New Development
Court Square continues to grow quicker by the day.
Construction commenced on a three-building high-rise complex at the corner of Jackson Avenue and Queens Boulevard. Fence renderings were recently posted on the site, depicting a mini-residential village.
Developer Tishman Speyer’s project will be named Gotham Center.
According to Queens Brownstoner, the first building at 28-34 Jackson wil feature 658 units and 6,000-square-feet of retail space. The second building at 28-10 Jackson Avenue will hold 683 units and 3,000-square-feet of retail space. And the third and final building, located at 30-02 Queens Boulevard will boast 448 apartments and 6,500-square-feet of retail.
Crains New York reported in June that the project will cost $875 million and will be wrapped by 2018.
The development is being built over a historic graveyard that was the former gravesite of the famed Van Alsts family — which was one of the original families of Queens when they settle in the area 350 years ago.
The future Gotham Center site is a mere two blocks away from the current construction site of what will be the home of the tallest building in Queens. Also numerous other residential buildings will be opening soon or have opened in the last two years.
