10-20 37th Avenue, Long Island City, (New Permits and Plans Filed)
Hotel owner and developer Kaushik Patel has filed plans for another hotel in Long island City. The 6-story, 17,491 square foot hotel is set to rise 64 feet at 10-20 37th Avenue in Long Island City. Located at the corner of 37th Avenue and 11th Street the 57 room hotel is yet another added to the booming hotel pipeline of LIC and Queens. The hotel is to be designed by Shimming Tam and no renderings or designed have been released yet.
|Proposed: Use||Zoning Area (sq.ft.)||District||FAR|
Mr. Patel had told a source close to QueensBeans.com that the plans are to have a branded flag name for the hotel and that there are not too many remaining in the region’s rising hotel market. The site, also known as 37-10 11th Street, used to be housed by a a bar and a dwelling unit above and sold last November for $1.7 million. Located 10-minutes from the F train, the property is near already existing brands such as Sleep Inn, Howard Johnson and Best Western in what is historically known as the Ravenswood section of LIC. Already there are four more hotels planned for this M-zoned industrial corridor, with 9-02 38th Avenue most recently to break ground as a future La Quinta Inn. The city is looking to take away the as-of-right hotel use in M-zoned areas, especially in Industrial business zones as these hotels are located in.
Mr. Patel is known to be associated with The Country Inn and Suites, as well as the Ramada on Crescent Street and the La Quinta Inn on Queens Boulevard to name a few of his holdings.
QueensBeans.com will continue to update the progress on this development and the other hotels in the area.
